About us

We've been serving the community for 25 years

We’re proud to tell you that AppleCare Medical Group has joined the Optum family. Our name has changed to Optum.

Just like AppleCare Medical Group, Optum strives to make health care simpler and help people feel their best. Under AppleCare, we’ve served the community for over 25 years. As part of Optum, we’ll take the next step: We’ll make sure you get the care you need when you need it, at a cost you can afford.

You don’t need to do anything. You’ll get the same great care from your doctor, clinic and our network of providers. And we’ll accept your current insurance and copays.

The Optum California family of medical groups serves over 1.5 million people across Southern California. Today, we operate as independent medical groups. But we look forward to bringing our care teams and health services together as one Optum.

Our story

AppleCare Medical Group became part of Optum in 2010. Before then, we had a long history as one of the largest medical groups in California.

AppleCare Medical Group was formed in Lynwood, California in 1996 by two practicing physicians, Vinod Jivrajka, MD and Surendra Jain, MD. Their vision was simple: to offer quality care locally to their community.

Over the last 25 years, we’ve grown, practicing in more communities and hospitals and accepting more health plans. But the mission has stayed the same.

Today, Optum Care Network–AppleCare is made up of hundreds of board-certified private-practice, independent doctors. Together, we’ve served the Southeast Los Angeles County and Northern Orange County for decades. We’re proud of the skill and passion each of us brings to improving the health of our communities.
