What types of health plans do you offer?
We contract with many different types of health plans to offer our members the freedom to choose what's best for them. We purposely do not contract with just one plan nor do we own a health plan. We believe by offering options to our members, we allow our members to choose from a full spectrum of plans, from Medicare and commercial health plans. Our plans such as Blue Shield, SCAN, Secure Horizons, Citizens Choice and Health Net present benefits that are second to none in our market, and each plan offers our members something special. What changes does Medicare have in store?
The good news is that Medicare's new prescription drug program, Part D, has taken full effect during the last year. Our members who are part of Medicare Advantage programs enjoyed Part D Prescription Drug Benefits as part of their overall health plan.
Right now, we are preparing for one of the other changes in Medicare Advantage programs - the lock in period. This took effect for the first time this year, beginning in July. Basically, this lock-in provision means that there is a certain time of year (November 15 through March) when you can select or change your Medicare coverage. However, you can still change your medical group or physician at any time as long as you stay within the same Medicare plan. Back to the top
